VSCCA, you’d expect plenty of vintage European sports
and GT cars, and they were on hand, everything from
three-wheeled Morgans to 1970s BMWs to muscular
Aston Martins. But there was even more to reward those
who trekked the course, including Full Classics, American cars of the Fifties, motorcycles, Rolls-Royces, muscle
cars, trucks, Ford Mustangs, customs and hot rods, and
even a soupçon of Citroëns.
Awards were handed out in 25 classes, with best of
show going to a spectacular 1934 Packard Twelve owned
by collector and dealer George Dragone. A highlight of
the show was the presentation of four historic race cars,
including an extraordinary 1939 Mercedes-Benz W154
A rainbow of Morgan + 4s turned out to help celebrate the centenary of
the oldest surviving automobile maker in England.
Silver Arrow, from the Collier Collection, a private his- toric sports car collection in Naples, Florida. “We really wanted to give the fans as much as possible during this weekend,” said Skip Barber, the president of Lime Rock Park. “The Collier Collection cars were fabulous, the Midway was a fun and busy place to be—and I really want to thank Mother Nature for her full cooperation this week!”
This Mercedes-Benz W154 Silver Arrow last raced in the 1939 Yugoslavian Grand Prix,
where it finished second. On Saturday, spectators were able to see and hear the 500hp car
running demonstration laps around the track.
